There is still time to order yourself a hanging basket

Add a touch of colour to your home this summer with a beautiful floral hanging basket.   Containing a stunning array of flowers including Begonias, Surfinia and Diascia the baskets are a cheap and easy way to decorate your home.  For only £27.10 you will receive a pre-made hanging basket delivered directly to your door.

The baskets will be just £27.10 and delivered to your door- they are 35.5 cm (14 inches) across and would make a great present.

Download an order form from the Parks website breatheswansea.com now, and get it in before the closing date of Sat 27 Feb. 

Bulb planting session at Parc Llewelyn

Following the successful event last month, Parc Llewelyn is to host a follow up bulb planting session this Saturday (24 October).  The event will take place between 10am - 12noon, and is free and open to all ages.

Botanics in Bloom events cancelled

Unfortunately the children's events and band concerts planned for this weekend at Botanics in Bloom, Singleton Park are cancelled due to waterlogging under the marquee.

The plant sales will be going ahead as planned and the gardens are accessible by tarmac path - it's only the marquee that has been affected by the rain.

Last chance to enjoy the festivities at Singleton Botanical Gardens

This is your last chance to head on down to the Singleton Botanical Gardens as the annual Botanics in Bloom celebrations are drawing to a close.

With guided tours, workshops, band concerts, children’s activities and plant sales there is plenty for everyone to enjoy.

So, head on down during the last week of August for your last chance to view the gardens at their very best.

Throughout august, the Botanical Gardens in Singleton Park will be hosting the bloom-ing (see what I did there?) marvellous Botanics in Bloom.

Swansea parks team triumph at Royal Welsh

Congratulations to the City & County of Swansea's specialist parks team, as they came back from the Royal Welsh Show in Builth Wells with two top prizes.  They won a large gold medal and the Plas Power Perpetual Challenge trophy.

Singleton Park wins award

Congratulations to all who work hard to maintain Singleton Park, as it's just won the Best Park category in the Style Awards!

The Style Awards are supported by Swansea Business Improvement District and listeners of The Wave and Swansea Sound vote for their favourites.

Swansea in Bloom

If you notice a garden or business premise that you think deserves recognition then put their name forward for an award.

Entries for the Swansea in Bloom competition close this Friday 3 July.

The competition is completely free to enter and is open to both residents and businesses.  There is also a cash prize for the winner of each category.

Enter online or pick up an entry form from any council venue.

Family fun at Brynmill Park

This Saturday, 20 June, Brynmill Park is hosting an exciting Fun Day celebrating a successful year following the park’s recent renovation.

The day is packed full of entertainment suitable for all the family.  A variety of acts will feature on the main stage including Caledonian pipers, belly dancers, African aerobics and music from local bands.

Brynmill Park Fun Day starts at 12.00pm and will finish at 6.00pm. Admission is free and refreshments are available from the recently opened kiosk.

Get out and about along Swansea Prom

Swansea Prom is beautiful, especially in the summer.  So why not head down there and enjoy one of the many outdoor attractions there?

Ride the Swan and Dragon pedalos or play crazy golf at Singleton boating lake, enjoy the 10 hole course golf course at Ashleigh Road or take the kids to have fun and splash around at Blackpill Lido.

Clyne Gardens is only a stone's throw away, or take a ride aboard the Swansea Bay Rider down to Southend Gardens which is ideal for a family day out.

Little cygnets just hatched in Brynmill Park

A pair of Mute Swans in Brynmill Park have just hatched little cygnets which are little balls of grey fluff at the moment.  Over the next few weeks they'll be learning to eat grass, bathe and preen themselves and they'll look more like swans by 6 weeks old.

A trip to Brynmill Park to see the new cygnets is well worth it - visit the Discovery Centre where you can learn about wildlife and have fun in the playground.
