La Traviata tonight in Castle Square

La Traviata is being beamed live from the Royal Opera House to the big screen in Castle Square tonight, 30 June, at 7.00pm.

Wimbledon is also being shown during the day this week so that you can watch live - enjoy your lunch break in Castle Square.

If you notice a garden or business premise that you think deserves recognition then put their name forward for an award.

Entries for the Swansea in Bloom competition close this Friday 3 July.

The competition is completely free to enter and is open to both residents and businesses.  There is also a cash prize for the winner of each category.

A fun family day out at the Sea Swansea Festival

Everybody had a great day out at this year's Sea Swansea Festival.  From the Sheppey Pirates and the Pirate Ship, to the Shanty singing and Newfoundland dog rescue show, there was something for the whole family to enjoy.

Free Tennis Open Day at Bishopston Sports Centre

Get on down to Bishopston Sports Centre for a special open day this Sunday.  There are free tennis sessions between 11am-4pm, with plenty of fun activities for adults and children alike to enjoy.

It will be a great day, and a fantastic opportunity to improve your skills, receive some handy hints and tips, and compete in some tournaments.

Family fun this weekend in Swansea

Don't miss out on family fun this weekend - 20 - 21 June!

Sea Swansea is taking place at the Waterfront Museum from 11am - 5pm on Sat and Sun, with lots of music and pirate-themed fun for all ages, plus the chance to see the floating exhibits in Swansea Museum up close.

Meanwhile, just up the road in Brynmill Park they'll be celebrating the Discovery Centre's 1st birthday from 12 noon - 6pm on Saturday, with a graffiti wall and kid's activities.

Bonymaen Carnival is also taking place on Saturday from 1pm, with lots of activities happening in the grounds of Cefn Hengoed school and leisure centre.

Family fun at Brynmill Park

This Saturday, 20 June, Brynmill Park is hosting an exciting Fun Day celebrating a successful year following the park’s recent renovation.

The day is packed full of entertainment suitable for all the family.  A variety of acts will feature on the main stage including Caledonian pipers, belly dancers, African aerobics and music from local bands.

Brynmill Park Fun Day starts at 12.00pm and will finish at 6.00pm. Admission is free and refreshments are available from the recently opened kiosk.

Get your cutlass at t' ready for Sea Swansea

This saturday welcomes the return of Wales' biggest annual dance festival, Escape into the Park, to Swansea's Singleton Park.

Escape into the Park is part of the Swansea Bay Summer Festival.

The Active Swansea Junior Novice Swimming Gala 2009is taking place on 4 July, at Penlan Leisure Centre, so if you are  between the ages of 8-11 and would like to enter this fantastic competition, then make sure you get your entries in by 12 June.

Win tickets to Wimbledon

The annual Bowls Festival returns to Victoria Park, Swansea from 19 July - 8 August 2009 and is open to all age groups.

Gower Walking Festival returns

 Over 47 guided walks will be available in Gower, Mumbles and Swansea from 6- 21 June, including themed walks. 

There's a walk to suit everyone from a gentle stroll or a themed walk, to long walks on rougher terrain for more experienced walkers.

Ballet in Castle Square

Get yourself down to Castle Square, Swansea on Wednesday 3 June for ballet beamed live from the Royal Opera House.

The BP Big Screen will provide a great view of Ondine, a story about someone falling in love with a water sprite, so bring a blanket and a picnic - the show starts at 7.30pm.

Continental market comes to Swansea

Come down to Oxford Street this coming weekend 5 - 7 June,  where a large range of stalls will be selling handmade items alongside specialties such as delicious cheese, ham and bread.
