St David's Day celebrations

One more mention for St David's Day in Swansea - there are loads of events going on this weekend, from the Get Welsh food festival in Castle Square with music and entertainment to a Dragon Parade as part of the Mumbles festivities, so go and have some fun!

Free screenprinting Sat 28th

The Glynn Vivian Art Gallery has a FREE screenprinting workshop for children and adults tomorrow 28 February - just drop in to take part between 10am - 4.00pm.

Penlan's new multi sport sessions

  Penlan Leisure Centre has new multi sports sessions available for tots from 0-4 years old and also children that are 5 - 7 years old.

Multi-sports covers the FUNdamentals (sorry) of all sports including running, jumping, catching, throwing and kicking through fun & friendly games.

Music to celebrate St David's Week

A diverse range of musical styles is on offer in Swansea during St David's Week. 

The Storys will rock the Brangwyn Hall on Thursday 26 February and Pontarddulais Male Choir swells Gorseinon with song on Saturday.  Max Boyce also brings his own brand of laughter and music to the Grand Theatre on the Saturday and Sunday.

New Ospreys Rugby Courses for 5-7yr olds

The Ospreys have now teamed up with Pentrehafod Leisure Centre to offer introductory rugby courses for kids aged between 5 and 7. 

There are still courses at the other 5 Active Swansea Leisure Centres, Penyrheol, Bishopston, Penlan, Morriston and Cefn Hengoed.

This is a fabulous opportunity for young children to have access to first-class coaching and get their first taste of the joys of rugby.

Food festivals for St David's Day

   The Get Welsh food festival is back for its third year in Castle Square next Saturday 28 from 9am - 5pm, to celelebrate the best of Welsh food and drink - go and treat yourself to some local produce.

You can also get a 'Taste of Mumbles' in the Ostreme Hall as part of the Mumbles St David’s Day Dragon Festival Weekend - local chefs will be cooking up a storm!

Daffodil walk during St David's Week

  Take a daffodil walk in the beautiful Singleton Botanical Gardens on Tuesday 24 February - meet at Ty'r Blodau education centre at 11am.
 
There's also a bird and wildlife walk around Brynmill Park on Sunday 1 March at 11am from the Discovery Centre.

St David's Week in Swansea kicks off with our favourite Welsh food at Plantasia

Pop into the Plantasia Coffee Shop from Monday 23 February, through to Saint David's Day, where a selection of traditional Welsh food will be added to the menu.  So if a delicious bowl of Cawl, Welshcakes, or Bara Brith tickle your taste buds, then Plantasia (which has free entry to the coffee shop) is the place to be.

Latin American Festival returns to Swansea

The Latin American Festival returns to the Dylan Thomas Centre from February 27 - March 1, with great films being shown and the fabulous Cuban Salsa Party with dance demos on the Saturday night.

Workshops are running too, with a drumming session and a chance to try mural painting.  There'll also be guitar and piano recitals so there's something to entertain the whole family.  Ring 01792 463980 to book or to get further information.

Charity event at Aspers tonight

There's a fundraiser to help the townships of South Africa tonight (12th Feb) in Aspers at 7.30pm.  It's being organised by BIDS and The Wave / Swansea Sound - Carrie from The Wave will be going out to help build houses in the townships.

Wales Six Nations match on BBC's big screen

The Wales v England Six Nations international will be live this weekend on the BBC's big screen in Castle Square, Swansea.  So if you haven't got tickets but fancy seeing the game for free when you're in town you know where to go. 

Kick off time is 5.30pm on Saturday 14th Feb.

The Swansea Festival of Dance starts Sunday 15th February

Penyrheol Theatre will be hosting the 30th annual Swansea Dance Festival for the 13th consecutive year.  Amateur dance schools from all over the South West will be competing for a place in the next round, and ultimately a place in the final in Paignton, Devon.

New Adult Recreation mornings at Bishopston Sports Centre

Recreational activities for adults of all ages have been introduced in Bishopston Sports Centre.
