After answering 2 hours of questions in the afternoon press conference Matthew Rhys arrived back at the Dylan Thomas Centre in the evening for the reception. The Leader of the City and Council of Swansea, Chris Holley spoke of the Dylan Thomas legacy and its importance to the City.
Matthew also spoke at the reception and thanked the City for such a warm reception, particularly as he was a Cardiff boy! He then officially opened an exhibition of props and costumes from the film which is at the Dylan Thomas Centre until September. The expectant crowd then made there way to the Vue Cinema to enjoy the premiere screening.
‘The Edge of Love’ stars Matthew Rhys as Thomas and Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller as the two feisty, free-spirited women in his life: Vera Killick and his wife, Caitlin. Broken promises, passion, betrayal, the shadow of war and the constant imminent threat of death all mix to generate a vivid setting for the movie. The story was partly shot in Wales and also explores the bohemian underworld of war-torn London and the intimate complexities of two young couples whose lives become dangerously entwined.
The Edge of Love is financed by Capitol Films, BBC Films and the Wales Creative IP Fund and is administered by Finance Wales and Prescience Film Finance. The film opens Nationwide on June 27th.
