Happy 50th Anniversary Exhibition

Come celebrate the 50^th Anniversary of the Friends of the Glynn Vivian (1958-2008) at the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery.

A special selection of work is currently on display which represents gifts and acquisitions made over the years to the permanent collection of Fine and Applied Arts.

The exhibition is on display until Saturday 29 June and the gallery is open Tuesday – Sunday from 10am-5pm.

Let's Celebrate Spring!

The ever popular Candlelight Concert returns to the Brangwyn Hall this spring, after the earlier success of the St Davids Candlelight concert.  The Chamber Orchestra of Wales will be performing some wonderful music, which will take place on Sunday 6th April.

Spiderwick Chronicles - activities in Central Library

Swansea Central Library is open now and many regular events are taking place in the new library which include storytimes, film nights, Pilates sessions and writing classes.

To tie in with the film there are many Spiderwick Chronicles themed events happening from 25^th – 28^th March too.

Can you sing, dance and act?  We are looking for male & females aged 12yrs and up - there are also adult roles available.

Auditions are being held on Monday 17th March 2008, 5.30pm @ Penyrheol Theatre, Gorseinon.

Easter holiday activities

Want to keep your child busy this holiday?  Activities on offer include multi sports and free swimming in the Active Swansea community leisure centres and lots of Junior Park Rangers fun to be had.

There are storytimes and Easter craft activities in libraries all around Swansea and if you've got time, why not call into the brand new child-friendly Central Library over the holidays?

Plantasia have some great sessions planned, including a Zoo Lab Animal Handling event and a Parrot Fun session.

It's best to book ahead for some sessions and you'll find full details on the holiday activities pages.

Happy Splasher sessions

If you'd like to take your tot to a quieter session to get them used to being in the water, then Happy Splasher classes are for you.

They take place on Tuesdays from 11am - 12 noon at Cefn Hengoed Leisure Centre.  The sessions are for the under 3s plus a parent or guardian and the water is nice and warm so they'll have a great experience.

Swansea's a great place to run

Our colleagues over at Swansea Futures picked up on some research about Swansea and Cardiff being great places to run in the UK, especially as beautiful Gower is right on the doorstep.

Cardiff and Swansea were singled out for praise because both were among the safest and most pleasant places to pound the pavement, with Swansea coming out at number 7. 

That's great news for those of you who are getting ready for the Sports Relief Mile in a couple of weeks.

The LC is open!

The LC opened yesterday (March 1st) so that people can enjoy the waterpark, playzone, gym and climbing walls for a week before the Queen's visit to officially open it.
